We are Marching into Spring…
Hey everybody and welcome to March! This is the time of year that marks the beginning of spring, often bringing warmer weather, blooming flowers, and renewed life in nature. Houston comes alive in Spring. It’s when Rodeo is in full swing, and we are counting down the days to Spring Break! But decided to dedicate march to Health and Wellness and highlight three area businesses that focus on making health and wellness a priority. As more people recognize the importance of taking a proactive, holistic approach to their physical and mental well-being, we spotlight some new places around town that help you achieve balance.
An old Irish folklore says that St. Patrick’s Day indicates the beginnings of the transformation from winter’s dreams into spring’s magic. So, to celebrate this special day, our Art Director Desiree Lonsway put together a little leprechaun magic of her own. Check out pages 27 and 45 as we bring you this year’s best places to celebrate this annual Irish festival and some fun holiday treats the whole family can enjoy not to mention a wee bit of Shenanigans, Malarkey and Tomfoolery. In March we also introduce you to Brooks Haack, Memorial High’s new head football coach and campus athletic director. Speaking of school news – graduation is just around the corner and we are creating a special section to highlight your amazing graduate with a congratulatory tribute and keepsake. Visit www.swoonmemorial.com to learn more about how you can turn your senior into a star that shines in our May issue. But don’t wait, grad tribute spaces are limited!
On page 25, read our Noteworthy Neighbor this month, Team Jacob. In an inspiring show of unity and determination, the friends and neighbors of one Houston family formed Team Jacob to honor a young boy diagnosed with the ultra-rare genetic disorder ATP6V1A Encephalopathy. On page 32’s Where Are They Now highlights Kinkaid Falcon to Rice Owl Danny Carroll. Page 35 covers offer a recap of Swoon Memorial’s First Annual Galantine’s Day Social filled with images of the day, page 39 brings us more rodeo fun and
in our Culinary Bites column, we introduce you to some unique restaurants that opened in our community.
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I leave you with this Irish Blessing, “May you have all the happiness and luck that life can hold, and at the end of your rainbows may you find a pot of gold!” I hope you have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day and Happy Spring y’all!
Sincerely,
