On Monday, May 1 st at 9:30 AM, the Downtown Rotary Club of Houston honored fallen
veterans during their 4 th Annual Memorial Day Wreath Presentation at Houston National
Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. (77038).
Organized annually by Downtown Rotary Club of Houston Veteran’s Committee spearheaded
by Combat Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, Richard Slemaker and Vietnam Era Veteran
and Fighter Pilot instructor Jay Comeaux, challenged Breen’s Florist’s Marcia Wilson to
create the Largest Memorial Wreath for the presentation. The Wreath is 4 feet in diameter
and contains more than 750 red, white and blue flowers.
The Downtown Rotary Club of Houston, founded by four past Rotary Club Presidents in 2018,
is the first of its kind business and professionals Rotary Club in the world. The largest
Rotary Club in Houston’s District 5890, it is an association of successful business owners,
professionals and high-level executives who volunteer their efforts through Rotary’s Seven
Areas of Focus.
