Local celebrity judges will award prizes for first, second and third place
Kids’ Meals, Inc., in partnership with Houston-area McDonald’s owner/operators, announces its first ever Holiday Bag Decorating Contest. Everyone from professional artists to children and novice drawers are invited to participate by decorating a paper lunch bag with the theme “holiday traditions” from December 1 to 14. To enter the contest, take a photo of your decorated bag and post on Instagram tagging @kidsmealshouston, @McDonaldsHouston and #HungerFreeHolidays. Once the photo is submitted, participants should mail or drop off your entry bag with contact information to: Holiday Bag Decorating Contest, 330 Garden Oaks Blvd, Houston TX, 77018.
“Kids’ Meals needs more than 6,100 lunch bags daily, and the children we serve are thrilled when they receive decorated bags,” said Beth Braniff Harp, Kids’ Meals executive director. “This contest is a fun way to collect more bags and recognize the incredible artwork that we see every day!” A cash prize will be awarded to first place ($500), second place ($300) and third place ($200). Celebrity Judges include: Gonzo, graffiti artist; Steve McKinney, former Houston Texans player and local
McDonald’s owner/operator; Taft McWhorter, contemporary artist; Leah Egwuatu, fitness instructor and social media influencer; and Michelle Hammons, life coach and social media influencer. The designs will also be uploaded to a Kids’ Meals Facebook album where the public can vote for the people’s choice winner from December 15 to 17. Winners will be selected and announced on December 18. “We’re proud to support the Kids’ Meals mission to feed thousands of children in our communities throughout Greater Houston each and every day,” said Steve McKinney, local McDonald’s owner/operator and Kids’ Meals Holiday Bag Decorating Contest judge. “This has been a difficult year for so many families. If you’re able to give this holiday season, please help us support organizations like Kids’ Meals.”
