Raising funds to build better lives for disadvantaged children in Vietnam
Abandoned Little Angels (ALA), the non-profit organization that provides assistance to underprivileged children in Vietnam, in lieu of their annual gala will host an online silent auction and participate in the international movement Giving Tuesday to support their “Meals to Heal” campaign. ALA’s “Meals to Heal” campaign was launched earlier this year during the COVID pandemic and delivered 3,700 meals to Houston-area first responders, healthcare workers, the Houston Food Bank and local non-profit Kids Meals.
The “Meals to Heal” online events will kick-off Monday, November 23rd and ending on Giving Tuesday, December 1st. The silent auction will feature more than 45 items, including four vacation homes, a Houston Rockets James Harden autographed ball with case, a round of golf for four at Royal Oaks Country Club and additional experiences/items to choose from.
ALA is continuing the “Meals to Heal” campaign this Fall to feed the children in Vietnam, who are in desperate need of help and support. Their goal is to raise $80,000 by the end of 2020 through the virtual fundraising events including the silent auction and Giving Tuesday.
“Even though the COVID pandemic has hit us hard, we are so blessed to be living in the US. We still have a safety net of charities, civic organizations and government support in these turbulent times,” said Frances Chenne, Executive Director. “We have a safety net that provides basic food and shelter and our children here in the USA can still have an education. In developing countries like Vietnam, there is no safety net. For the marginalized families and children, they struggle each day just to have enough food to eat.”
COVID has hit the ALA children in Vietnam especially hard. The schools and centers the organization supports are struggling to provide just one meal a day for these children. For many, this is their only meal of the day. ALA’s goal this year is to make sure that these children have a warm meal to eat.
Supporters can participate in the online auction, donate on the site or sponsor a child in Vietnam for less than $1.00 a day ($360/year), ensuring that the children in these centers do not go hungry. To learn more information or make a donation, please visit www.abandonedlittleangels.org.
