April Showers & Easter’s on its way…
I love, love, love the April issue which we are lovingly referring to as the “Memorial Foodie Zone”. This is our 3rd annual “foodie” issue and with all the culinary delights in Memorial, we know you will love to know more about all thing’s food in Memorial! First, we celebrate Hungry’s Anniversary, bringing 50 years of Fresh Fare. Then on to meet four Memorial chefs and restauranteurs to see what makes their restaurants sizzle!
The Spring Branch FFA is honoring all the Grand Champions and Reserve Champions of this year’s show. They also offer a special thanks to the sponsors that made it such a success! Year after year these students work so hard, and we are so proud of their accomplishments… not to mention we think they are Swoonworthy!!
It’s time to start thinking about Summer Camps for the kids, so we gathered round the fire and grabbed some helpful information you will want to know when deciding on what camp experience to choose. Then, on page29, meet our Noteworthy Neighbor Mark Klein and his son Kade who run the multi-generational Klein Jewelry. We also have a super fun Astros section because as you know our amazing team is back at it and hoping to go all the way! We found some cute Astros gear and did the hard work for you this April to clue you in on all the amazing giveaways each month!
Easter Sunday is on April 2 and on page 45 we have some sweet treats that are not only fun to eat, but also fun to make. Just wait until you see the egg-stravagant and egg-citing ideas our Art Director Desiree Lonsway found to enhance her Easter celebration… these egg-straodinary ideas will have you hopping to the grocery store to egg-speriment.
Many people hurry along Allen Parkway, en route to work or lunch, often glancing at their cell phones. Although there is signage, they often tell us that they have seen the historic houses but did not know why they were there. This tranquil, 20-acre urban treasure should not be overlooked because it is an “oasis of living history” and because of the art it showcases. In A little piece of History on page 48, the Houston Heritage Society uncovers the art in Sam Houston Park. Now that the pollen is on its way out it is officially Spring, so get outside and golf, go on a long walk and have some good old-fashioned fun!
Sincerely,
Lara Bell, Publisher & Editor
