Mark your calendars for their Purse Bingo event February 3, 2022.
Be An Angel was created in 1986 by a concerned parent attempting to meet the needs of the multiply disabled and profoundly deaf students at T.H. Rogers School in Houston, Texas. Although they began as a Christmas program providing gifts to students who otherwise may not have received anything, Be An Angel has expanded their wings in order to accomplish so much more. It is their Mission to improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness by providing needed adaptive equipment and select services. “Every child is important is this world and can contribute to others in a meaningful way, stated Marti Boone, Executive Director. “The adaptive equipment, services and programs often contributes to a longer, more productive and fuller life for the children we serve.” Last month Be An Angel shopped for 5,127 individual students for their Christmas gift program. Teachers and volunteers alike accomplished this goal in one week. The gifts were transferred to the George R. Brown Convention Center where hundreds of volunteers decorated each bag and then deliver the gifts to the appropriate schools totaling over 32 school districts and over 360 schools. Be An Angel relies heavily on volunteers who are committed to their mission. Because Be An Angel does not take any Federal, State or local government funding they depend on the generosity of the many donors in Houston.
