A.D. Players at The George Theater is thrilled to announce they’ve transformed their parking lot into a family-friendly, safely distanced music venue! Sponsored in part by CultureMap, the first open-air event is the holiday concert Merry Christmas Darling: Heidi Kettenring Sings Karen Carpenter, in partnership with Artists Lounge Live, and will run December 10-23.
Part of the popular Artists Lounge Live series, award-winning actress Heidi Kettenring (WICKED, Broadway in Chicago) and her exceptional band present the timeless treasures and holiday hits of Karen Carpenter, including “Merry Christmas Darling,” “Close To You,” “For All We Know,” and “The Christmas Song.” Artist Director Kevin Dean said, “With ongoing concerns about growing COVID-19 numbers and the need for safety, we decided rather than cancelling everything, we would move our holiday programming outside. We have been continually pursuing the highest level of safety in everything we have done this fall, and want to provide people an opportunity to safely experience some much needed holiday cheer. We have built an outdoor stage and divided the Lot into safely distanced boxes 6 feet apart that will each be able to accommodate groupings of 2 to 4 people, depending on what is desired. People can purchase a VIP package that includes folding chairs and a cocktail table or simply reserve an empty box in which to set up their favorite lawn or camping chair from home.”
Executive Director, Jake Speck and Artists Lounge Live Founder, Michael Ingersoll have been friends for years. When asked about this most recent pivot Speck said, “I have the utmost respect for Michael and his team. We have worked hand in hand on this plan, along with the team at A.D. Players, to make sure we can provide an outstanding, high quality evening of entertainment that is safe for all. I’m excited for the first of what could be many outdoor events. So come on out and help us “Light Up The Lot!” To add to the festivities, A.D. Players are inviting local artisans and food trucks to join in on the fun! Choose from their selection of warm beverages for sale, or ‘BYOB’ your own festive libations and snacks to enjoy during the show. A.D. Players are committed to making the Lot a safe way to celebrate the holidays for everyone, and that means face coverings will be required, but only when people are outside of their reserved seating zone.

Performances are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday performances the week of Christmas at 7:30pm.
