The 46th annual Texas Renaissance Festival is back and opening this weekend, October 3rd and 4th. Travel back in time to a society ruled by mystery, magic, and mythical creatures.
Since 1974, over 55 acres of Texas land is transformed into a renaissance time-period village, complete with shops, actors, events, and shows. Each day is themed, and the festival highly encourages dressing up as it adds to your experience and the overall aesthetic of the festival. From 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., every hour is filled with performers showing off their tricks and talents, as well as a costume contest. Come early and stay late; fill your day with shows and food as you walk around the grounds experiencing life during the 14th-17th centuries.
While masks were not worn during the last renaissance pandemic, the Bubonic Plague, they are being worn in the 21st-century plague, COVID-19. While the Texas Renaissance Festival is excited to welcome people back in time, taking necessary measures to ensure the healthiest travel conditions. These changes are the cancellation of costume rentals and a strict protocol of no outside food or drinks to limit external variables from entering the festival grounds. The Texas Renaissance Festival has put together a list of essential information here.
