The Houston West Chamber Women Driving Business event series is fortunate to again this year have BMW of West Houston as a major sponsor. The ongoing support is due in large part to general manager, Maria Moncada Alaoui.
Maria developed an interest in cars at a young age, learning the ins and outs of how they work from her father and brothers. With her passion, It’s no surprise that she started as a receptionist and fell in love with the industry, quickly moved on to sales, became finance manager and then the top sales manager in the nation. Maria joined BMW as general manager in 2007. Even though opportunities have advanced for women in the automotive industry, Maria is still one of very few general managers in the business.
One of the newest cars on the BMW of West Houston sales floor is the X7, the first seven passenger vehicle and a level 3 autonomous SAV. It is loaded with the latest in advanced technology and safety features. According to Maria, it still feels and drives like a sportscar; “a sportscar hidden in an SUV”. The Coronavirus has caused the dealership to reinvent the way they interact with customers by offering no contact service, pickup and drop off vehicles, and making it convenient for clients to do business from the comfort of their own home.
BMW of West Houston’s support of Women Driving Business aligns with Maria’s goal of supporting women-owned and small businesses. The team at BMW of West Houston feels pride in being able to give back to our community. The team volunteers with non-profit entities like Houston Children’s Charity, the Houston Food Bank, Bo’s place, and many other entities that help elevate our community, and gives the team great honor and a sense of purpose beyond our bottom line.
