While traveling this summer might have been limited, your taste buds can still experience cuisines from around the world during this year’s Houston Restaurant Weeks. Restaurants from the Woodlands to Galveston, including Memorial favorites like Johnathan’s the Rub and Island Grill, are taking part in this annual fundraiser to support the Houston Food Bank.
Houston Restaurant Weeks’ founder Cleverly Stone, known as Houston’s “Diva of Dining,” dedicated the latter part of her life to ending hunger in Houston. She started Houston Restaurant Weeks in 2003, and it has quickly become the largest annual fundraiser, supporting the largest food bank in the nation, the Houston Food Bank. In 17 years, this fundraiser has raised $16.6 million for the food bank and distributed 44 million meals for Houstonians in need.
While Stone passed away this past May, her daughter has taken on the responsibility to continue her mother’s amazing work in ending Houston hunger and supporting local businesses.
