How and why did you start crocheting?
I’m originally from Trinidad and my neighbor taught me to crochet when I was in junior high school.
How did you end up participating in Central Market 25th anniversary contest?
We receive weekly email notifications from Central Market We started shopping there when the store opened in 2001 and we lived in the Galleria area. We moved to Memorial later that year. After carefully reading the contest rules I thought I should enter. The Foodie Fete Menu was published on-line, and I decided to make some of the food from the menu. I needed to be creative in a hurry and really think outside the box.
What did you crochet for the event?
I used cookbooks, magazines, Central Market Weekly Savor, and my imagination to create the menu items:
- Maryland Mini-Crab Cakes with CM Remoulade
- Bottle of Wine
- New York Strip Steaks with Microgreens& Black Garlic Sauce
- Grilled Salmon with Ancient Grains Salad
- Crusty, Handmade 25th Anniversary Bread Power Greens with Blackstone Cheddar Honeycrisp Apples , Honey Pecans & Aged Sherry Vinegar
- Brownies & Lemon Bar
What is the craziest thing you have crocheted?
I prefer “What was” the most difficult thing you made for this project? The New York Strip Steak was the most challenging. (Seen Above Right)
