Mardi Gras season is officially underway. On February 15, 2020, the Knights of Momus held their annual parade in Galveston, Texas. The Knights of Momus was founded in 1871 and is Texas’ oldest krewe. This year’s ball chairs, Hayley and Jason Hardcastle, and president, Russell Scheirman, presented the royal court of King Frivolous CV and his queen at the Knights of Momus Coronation Ball held on Saturday evening, February 15, 2020. Nominees on the board of the Knights of Momus chose 24 girls who were presented as “duchesses” at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston. These 24 Duchesses were celebrated at the coronation ball and will also be honored at The Fertitta Family’s annual San Luis Salute on Friday, February 21st. The following night, the Duchesses will ride in the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade dressed in beautiful gowns designed by Miwa Sakashita of Miwa Fashions in Houston, each reflecting this years’ ball theme “Sail Through Scandinavia.”
