Early Friday morning, January 24th, residents in the Memorial area were woken up from the sound of an explosion at Watson Manufacturing. This blast caused severe damage to homes near the explosion.
In light of this tragic event, Houstonians once again joined together to aid families whose homes were damaged. On Saturday, January 25th, less than 24 hours after the explosion, over 60 volunteers from The Restoration Team and Chapelwood United Methodist Church gathered together to help repair damaged homes.
The Restoration Team was created to aid victims of Hurricane Harvey and has since partnered with churches to help Houstonians in need. This team of volunteers quickly assessed the damage and began distributing responsibilities. Skilled volunteers boarded shattered windows, tarped roofs in preparation of the rain that was forecasted that night, and helped families start to rebuild in their time of crisis.
