A few months back, I was asked by my Publisher, Lara Bell, to do some research and report on trendy and fun things to do in and around the Memorial area. I don’t usually write a column, but my husband Ricky and I are always searching for great date night venues, so I decided to give it a whirl. We discovered several cool hidden gems in Memorial and Spring Branch. Ricky and I enjoy trying different restaurants, bars, breweries and places that people rave about to see if they are worth recommending. October just might be the best time for us to reveal the interesting spots we found, because it’s time to celebrate Oktoberfest and the fall weather. In this feature, you will read about intimate “neighborhood bars” like BPD, The Branch, and Texas T Tavern, plus a few other local Houston breweries, and patios that allow you to bring your pups. I truly had a great time at some new hangouts, meeting the amazing people that work there, and becoming a “regular” at some of these locales! I hope you have some free time to check out one – or maybe all – of these special places, right in our community.
