Native Houstonian and artist Katherine Price attended Memorial High School and has been painting the town with her colorful creations since January 2016.
How did you get your start painting?
In January of 2016, I decided to pick up my paints as a secondary outlet from my full-time teaching job. I sat outside on my patio one sunny day and just painted away. I painted without thinking or worrying what anyone thought of my work. Once I completed the painting, I decided to test it out on Memorial Area Trading Facebook page to see if I could sell it. My work sold that very day and I haven’t looked back since! My son is my greatest source of inspiration and gives me the daily motivation to make things happen in life. I want to be an amazing role-model for him and teach him that you can do anything if you put your mind to it!
Where are some of the places your work has been displayed and sold?
My work has been previously featured at Berings, Feliz Interiors, MAI, but is currently on the retail floor of Lam Bespoke (Memorial location).
You have an event coming up this month at Lam Bespoke. Tell us about it?
My POP UP SHOW will be held at Lam Bespoke (Memorial location) on Saturday, October 20th . I will be selling small original works of art on paper in all colors and sizes. These beauties will be perfect for your home or to buy as gifts for the holidays. Come stop by and meet me! I would love to see you there!
What is it like to walk in to a restaurant or hotel and see your art on the walls?
Sanctuary Spa in River Oaks has an original 48”x72” behind their check-in counter that still takes my breath away when I walk in their door. I am so blessed that people allow and trust me to do what I love!
What famous celebrity would you LOVE to see have your art hang in their house?
I painted a 48”x 60” for the dapper soccer star Michael Chabala, but I think it would be fun to paint for JJ WATT… He does so much for our community that I would love to pay it forward and paint a special piece for him as a thank you!
